“The system and tradition of the loom is a great source of inspiration for these structures. I work with the fundamental pattern of plain weave and against traditional textile use by adding sticks. Looking to mirror the wooden berms and the loom as a construction, directly in the woven material. In a subtle way letting the loom and weave blend together, during the production process.
With the implementation of sticks I seek to show how a simple alteration, can make a woollen cloth slightly mimic architectural elements from Nivaagaard Teglværks Ringovn. How these traditional systems of constructing with accessible materials, is strongly related and allow for familiarity in pattern making, repeats and establishment of functional surfaces.
I use the materials in a stage of natural presence to cherish the inherent qualities of color and texture, and to express the great advantages in minimising complexity of material processing”.
