“The Menarch Cup emerged from a research into the physical manifestations of feminist and gender theories through the application of fictional and speculative design concepts.
Sang Durci is composed of a 2:1 ratio of dried pig’s blood and sawdust, with the blood serving as natural binder. Both the recipe and the name are inspired by Bois Durci, a material invented and patented in 1855 by François Charles Lepage. By reimagining blood as a resource, Sang Durci invites us to reconsider its place in our food systems and cultural rituals. Here, it is presented as a cutlery set — functional, symbolic, and provocative.
My design approach centers on the relationship between concept, material, and form. Each piece carries a narrative shaped by the chosen materials and techniques. The materials I use often guide the outcome, introducing unpredictability and shaping the narrative in ways I couldn’t fully plan”.
