APOHLI
“APOHLI is the creative practice of Lewis Graham and Martina Branchetti. Our core principles lie within investigations of the past and present, synthesising elements of primitive craft and contemporary production to create tangible outputs centred around these dichotomous narratives.
Our process is intuitive and in this case began with a fragment; here, a repurposed engraved metal sheet from a previous piece became a table surface.
Building around this elevated layer, stained ash forms a body to cradle the etching. The veil, sewn from a found textile, is brought together with the frame through simple assemblage, affixed with two green buttons on each side. For us, tools are both functional and improvisational; this flexibility is core to how our pieces evolve during the process”.
